The Client has a few electric motors with poly propylene fan blades. The Blades themselves have deteriorated and the OEM fan rotors are not sold anymore. The fan Blades were reverse engineered and modeled. An FEA analysis was then conducted on the blades to ensure a new material would be able to withstand the loads and force. After deliberation, Nylon Carbon-Fibre was the material selected for these fan blades. It provides light weight construction but not so light as to burn the motor out and the blades were slightly thicker, allowing for increased air flow. This alternative material in conclusion was lighter, more efficient and more structural stable than the OEM Poly propylene fan blades.
